Association for Indonesia's Sociologi of Religion
History and Establishment
The Association for Indonesia’s Sociology of Religion (AISOR) was founded to meet the growing demand for an interdisciplinary platform that critically examines religious phenomena in Indonesia through a sociological lens. With Indonesia’s rich religious diversity and the evolving complexities of modern society, AISOR was envisioned as a dynamic hub where scholars, researchers, and practitioners could engage in meaningful dialogue, conduct impactful research, and contribute to broader societal discourse.
Officially launched in 2022 in collaboration with Departement of Sociology, Universitas Gadjah Mada and Departement of ……. Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga, AISOR emerged in response to the increasing academic focus on religion in Indonesia, particularly in relation to pluralism, radicalism, modernization, and digitalization. Since its establishment, AISOR has played a vital role in fostering cutting-edge research, academic conferences, and public discussions, offering critical insights into contemporary religious issues both in Indonesia and globally.
